The second edition of the Geneva Health Forum Open Village will take place from May 3 to 5 2022 (Tue to Thu).
Activities should be organized in a big tent on the International Conference Center esplanade, as well as online.
Participation should be free of cost.
Purpose
Libre and open-source innovation empowers communities, increases trustworthiness, and cuts costs by up to 100 times.
Acknowledging health commons as the new standard of care, we
- federate communities that co-create freely reproducible health knowledge and technologies
- empower people through critical thinking and political action in order to identify and tackle socio-economic barriers to health
- enhance contributions to and governance of health commons by coordinating efforts and sharing critical successes and challenges

Activities
We will invite interested people to propose activities. A form will be opened early January 2022.
Rules of play
All proposal have to
- align with the three objectives described above
- be not-for-profit and put the quality of cooperation first
- be carried by at least three individuals from diverse backgrounds who are directly affected by the topic
- dedicate at least two thirds of the activity's time to participants' contributions
- be documented in the wiki so that the whole community can benefit from the activity
Methodologies
- creation-as-research, that is research emerging from creative work
- project-based learning, where the participants have different roles to solve an issue
- experiential learning,

- Mutualizing transdisciplinary knowledge accross thematics → Undestanding asthma through a pulmonologist, public health, psychoanalytical perspective
- Building open hardware in parallel with remote fab labs → 180-min workshop to adapt a 3D model of a prosthesis to local needs
- Sharing best practices accross commons, etc. → 75-min open discussion on community building
- Collective writing of a policy brief → writing day on community medtech regulation
- Developing methodologies to research alternative medicine → two days iterative process to design and get feedback on a protocol
- Creating one-page visual guides to address taboos → 180-min workshop on the management of errors
- Technology building → 240-min to build a tool to help patients find resources
- Projects presentations → 6-min and 20 images on a project around hypnosis
- Process focused
- Helping participants emergence with a shared project → half-day dedicated to share needs, agree on priorities, put in commons resources
- Exploring arts and storytelling with vulnerable populations → 90-min art-therapy workshop to reflect on identity
- Science-fiction exploration → 45-min to remember a tech-less future of health
- Legislative theater → 300-min to reflect on emergency laws
